Depth. Meaning. Purpose.
These only come to us after a powerful journey. We may feel aimless and uncertain now, but roadmaps have been left by those who have gone before us. When we travel the inner roads well, the outer world begins to reflect our deepest desires. When we are joined by others, we move swiftly along. When we help others, we help ourselves.
The pathways through are age-old, tried and true. Fortunately for us, there are maps of the journey that show us where we have been, where we are, and where we are going. Once you discover them, everything changes.
Why An Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is an archetypal learning form. It has been used for centuries as an honorable way to pass knowledge from someone older and more experienced—someone with skill, knowledge and a refined talent—to someone who is eager to learn and willing to work. This concept, then, fits both the spirit and structure of our year together.
The maps of the great journey tell us where we have been, where we are, and where we are going.
Maps of the Great Journey
While there are countless maps that detail our growth in life, we will study six of them:
+ The Seven Steps of Alchemy, the process of turning base metal into gold, and our base personal aspects into the gold of consciousness (and real, spendable gold, because you are on purpose and living meaningfully).
+ The Hero, Heroine, and Antihero's Journeys, each of which point to an aspect of our life in the world, including our successes, our failures, and our natural, deep urge for "something more" when the trappings of ordinary life become too much.
+ Pierro Ferrucci's work on the great lives of men and women through self-actualization. This was not designed as a map, but it clearly provides one. The destination is greatness, including an expanded and evolved consciousness. Learning to turn this work into a map gives us experience in finding maps anywhere.
* Evolving Organizations, including the work of Frederic Laloux, author of Reinventing Organizations. We will compliment this work with other emerging collective frameworks that point to work as a meaningful path toward a more evolved workplace and, in turn, more evolved human beings.
* The stages of awakened consciousness - yes, this has been academically researched and is validated by many different spiritual traditions.
+ The shaman's map of the worlds behind the world. This draws on my ten years of teaching contemporary shamanism as a path of personal and communal growth.
+ BONUS! Optional following of the iChing, the oldest map we will consider through an ancient form of divination known for its map of wisdom in changing times. This short daily practice of inquiry brings wisdom, especially over time.
MetaSkills - life skills that scale.
Once mastered, they will serve you anywhere—from the boardroom to the living room—and this service will last a lifetime. Here are a few we will focus on:
+ Shooting through the mark. The great archery masters taught their students not to shoot at the bullseye, but through it. In the mentoring process, when our vision exceeds our immediate goal, we move far more easily toward and through that bullseye.
+ Challenging the premise of the question. Most often when people are stuck on a problem it’s not because they have not found the right answer, but because they have been trying to answer the wrong question. So before we rush into problem solving, we make sure we have the right question. This takes deep listening and keen observation, but it is very worth the next-level answers that come.
+ Moving from motivation to habit to embodied truth. Often motivational talks or videos leave us thinking that if we just keep generating motivation, we’ll get where we are going. In truth, we have very little motivation to go on each day, and like a tank of gas, it runs out. Habit is harder to form but will become embodied as personal truths. From there, getting even the hard things done is part of our normal flow of the day.
+ Dismantling our “story mountains,” seemingly built stone by stone. We have a tendency to believe the worst, and the worst grows. But we can systematically dismantle these stories in the same way we built them.
+ Leading with the positive. The world is full of "helpers" who will diagnose and treat what ails you. More powerful and productive are those who will see the greatness already inside of someone and nurture that forward. We’ll learn how to do that.

The Experience:
✴ Embodied learning—not mere hours in a chair. Many of us are already in a love/hate relationship with our time online. That's the hard news that may not change for a while. But the good news is this: I've been teaching online for more than a decade, and I know what it takes to build a real tribe, bring learning to deeper and more profound levels, and in the case of this program use a range of techniques to get the information out of our heads and into a more visceral experience of knowing. In short, our hours will be the hours you most look forward to because they will hold you at a deeper level, honor you and your attention, and reward you with embodied knowledge.
✴ A master mentor who both teaches and actively works with clients, including international C-suite leaders—and countless others who are not. We are all human. I've undertaken the transformation of giants in tech, talents on Broadway, and those stuck on writing for their million-dollar book deals. But I've also worked with those who have felt their success would never come (it did) and those who felt they were "nothing special" (they were). The beauty of mentoring is that the inner journey is one we all take. Our life maps work across levels, industries and life passages. I'll share with you what I have learned not by telling you, but by showing you how it's done.
✴ A cohort of those who will fully show up in real time—because fully showing up is the first tenet of a great life. I have been teaching long enough to know that what truly creates transformation is a leader who shows up to a tribe that dives in. This is exactly what we will do together. I promise to model what mentoring looks like, then encourage you to take your own unique gifts and run with them. In short: you get me and we get you.

Join Us If...
+ You want to make a greater impact and there is a mysterious urge for what comes next. What if you could make real progress on something important in your own life and help others, too?
+ The world’s outer chaos is making everything more difficult—your work, relationships, parenthood, community engagement—so that each day it seems progress gets further and further from view. What if you could find a compelling sense of what you can do for yourself and others even in these trying times?
+ You suspect you are in some kind of transformation—signals of which can be an increased sense of dissatisfaction, boredom, or an overall irritation—and at the same time, you feel as if you have a vision for something bigger, even if you don’t know how to accomplish it. What if these are clearly known signs of impending transformation that you can learn to use as a way forward for yourself and others?
+ Your current tools for helping seem to be running short given the increased magnitude of the problems and anxieties you and those you serve are feeling. What if you could learn new tools that tap into your stores of knowledge, insight and wisdom, and what if those tools could apply across all relationships—at work and at home?
+ You have an urge to be a companion on the inner way of life—and to go deep into that way yourself—but the ideas that are coming to you are not fully formed and you lack a framework for sharing them with others. What if you could learn several frameworks (in other words, maps!) that can be used any time the opportunity arises?
+ You feel malnourished by the current culture, irritated with the ever-increasing banality of what is offered to you and others. What if you could understand that, in many ways, it is only now—in this very season that is rising—that this power to change is coming to more and more of us?
+ You wonder if you are an imposter because your inner life does not always match the persona demanded of you in order to fit into your culture, workplace and family. What if authenticity were a path forward (it is) that solves this in powerful ways (it does)?
+ You don’t have enough time for personal AND professional growth. What if they can (and are meant to) go hand in hand?
+ You find it hard to balance theory and practice, heart and head (don’t forget the gut!) so that no part of what you know and have learned is wasted. What if the path of mentoring could encourage you to develop and embody all of these in one skillful dance?
+ You feel as if you can contribute something more powerful to the world—your legacy—but don’t have a framework for it. What if the maps of the great journey could help you with this heavy lifting?
+ You are drawn to a more spiritual path but are turned off by too much woo-woo and not enough rolling up the sleeves. You want to go deeper without going off the deep end. What if you could engage in intelligent growth—including the spiritual—that includes the internal experience as evidenced by the external realities, complete with real signposts that anyone can relate to?
These are not mere "what ifs"—
they are the cornerstones of what is possible through this apprenticeship.
